Democracy Brewing
Democracy Brewing is a worker-owned brewery and pub committed to making great beers and supporting our community. Their mission is to re-create the traditional public house, brew the best beer in Boston, pair it with tasty food, and serve it to you in combination with two great American ideals: democracy, and owning your own business.
Democracy Brewing doesn’t just yap about democracy, fairness and bringing people together over great craft beer. Since its inception in 2018 it has committed to giving every employee a $15 starting wage, the opportunity to buy an ownership share after their first year, and the responsibility of holding the board of directors accountable for the brewpub’s success. In order to remain independent the founders forgo venture funding for their million-dollar buildout of the former Windsor Button store and instead raised captial through a mix of crowdfunding, community development loans, and a direct public offering of shares.
